The Karnataka government has given Cabinet rank status to the chairpersons of 54 boards, corporations, and authorities across the State. This status is effective immediately and will last until further notice. These chairpersons now have the same benefits and privileges as State Ministers. From Kalaburagi district, five chairpersons have been promoted to Cabinet rank. They are Syed Mohammed Ali Al Hussaini of the Karnataka State Wakf Board; Neelakantharao Mulge of the Karnataka State Spices Development Corporation; Arun Kumar Patil of the Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation; Syed Mohammed Chishti of the Pulses Development Board; and Devendrappa Martur of the Sheep and Wool Development Corporation. The order came from N.R. Bandarangayya, Under Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms. It directs that all facilities given to Cabinet-rank Ministers must now be extended to these chairpersons with immediate effect.
