RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain, snow, and thunderstorms in upper Pakistan and Balochistan over the next two days as a westerly wave approaches on February 8. The PMD warned that landslides may occur in vulnerable spots in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Snowfall might cause slippery roads and traffic problems on February 9 and 10. Tourists have been advised to stay cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during this period.
On February 8 and 9, rain with wind and thunderstorms, along with hill snowfall, is expected in parts of Balochistan including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, and others. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will see similar weather in areas such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, and Peshawar on February 9 and 10. Isolated hailstorms are also possible.
Isolated rain, wind, and thunderstorms may affect Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Lahore will be partly cloudy, but other Punjab districts like Murree, Galiyat, and Rawalpindi may see rain and hill snowfall from the evening of February 9 through February 10. Southern districts might experience windstorms.
Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir will have rain, winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall from February 9 to 10, covering areas like Skardu, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Poonch. Kashmir may also experience isolated hailstorms.
In Sindh, most districts will have partly cloudy to cloudy weather, with chances of light rain or drizzle and gusty winds in coastal areas on February 8 and 9.
