China condemned the deadly suicide bombing at an imambargah in Islamabad on Friday. The explosion killed over 30 people and injured more than 100. "China is deeply shocked by the deadly explosion in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad and the heavy casualties it has inflicted," said a statement from the Chinese foreign ministry on Sunday. "China mourns for the lives lost, and our hearts go out to the injured and those who lost their loved ones." The ministry added, "China strongly condemns the attack, opposes any form of terrorism and firmly supports the Pakistani government in safeguarding national security and stability and protecting the safety of the people." The blast happened at Imambargah Qasr-i-Khadijatul Kubra in the Tarlai area, after Friday prayers. The attacker detonated a bomb at the mosque gate and was stopped there. Police and eyewitnesses reported bodies and injured lying near the gate and inside the mosque. The attack shocked Pakistan and drew global condemnations. Authorities are investigating and blaming Afghanistan and India for links to the attack. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said four facilitators including the mastermind have been arrested in raids in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. "I want to praise our agencies and the Counter-Terrorism Department in KP that all the people who were linked to the blast, including the masterminds, were arrested before 3am," he said. Naqvi claimed the mastermind is an Afghan national connected to the Islamic State group, trained in Afghanistan. The police raid also resulted in the death of a KP assistant sub-inspector and injuries to others. "The entire ISIS network has been busted," Naqvi added. He alleged that at least "21 terrorist organisations" operate from Afghanistan and claimed that mercenaries shift allegiance for money. He accused India of funding and increasing support to terrorists after May, saying, "Those who were giving $500 are now giving $1,500… India has increased the funding three times after May."
