Saudi security agencies stepped up enforcement from January 29 to February 4, arresting 20,237 people violating residency, labor, and border laws. The Ministry of Interior revealed that 12,687 were caught for breaking the Residency Law, 4,318 for breaching the Border Security Law, and 3,232 under the Labour Law. Authorities deported 11,656 illegal residents during the same period. Meanwhile, 16,805 violators were referred to their diplomatic missions to get travel documents, and 2,437 were asked to complete travel bookings. Security forces arrested 1,555 people attempting illegal entry, mainly Yemeni (40%) and Ethiopian (57%) nationals. Another 61 were caught trying to leave illegally. Efforts also targeted those helping violators; 32 people were arrested for providing transportation, shelter, or jobs. Currently, 23,807 expatriates are under legal procedures, including 21,926 men and 1,881 women. The Ministry warned that aiding illegal entry or shelter will lead to harsh punishments, including up to 15 years in prison, fines up to SR1 million, and confiscation of vehicles or property. The public is urged to report violations by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 or 996 elsewhere in the Kingdom.
