Dubai to Expand Beaches to 105 km with AI Safety, Night Swimming by 2030
February 8, 2026
Dubai is set to reshape its coastline with ambitious beach projects under the Blue and Green Spaces 2030 Roadmap. Public beach length will grow from about 21 km to 105 km. Facilities will increase up to 400%, boosting recreation and lifestyle opportunities. One key upgrade is Jumeirah Beach 1, expanded by 50% with new cycling paths, smart lockers, Wi-Fi, and AI safety systems. Climate-proof features are also added. Al Mamzar Beach Corniche is getting a Dh355 million makeover including a 200-metre floating pedestrian bridge and a women-only 125,000 sqm beach offering night swimming and play zones. Night swimming is already popular at Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim beaches, drawing 1.5 million visitors in 18 months. Umm Suqeim Beach will receive a Dh500 million makeover approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed. The project will expand the beach by 30%, add smart lighting, increase parking by 200% to 2,400 spaces, and improve transport links with 10 mobility hubs and 11 taxi points. Cycling and electric scooter infrastructure will promote green travel. Beyond the coast, Hatta will get an artificial mountain beach with a Crystal Lagoon, walking and cycling trails, dining, and an outdoor cinema. A 38-metre observation tower inspired by Dubai’s maritime heritage will offer panoramic views. The entire redevelopment focuses on accessibility, smart tech, and environmental sustainability. AI-enabled surveillance will enhance safety and emergency response. Night swimming and better lighting extend beach use after dark. Expanded facilities serve families, fitness lovers, and people with disabilities. Dubai’s beach upgrades combine lifestyle, technology, and sustainability. They aim to make Dubai’s coastline a world-class destination for residents and tourists, celebrating sun, sea, and urban life all year round.
