On Sunday, February 8, 2026, Jammu police detained Baldev Raj, a resident of Kothe Chorli village in Bishnah, under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA). He has been lodged in Bhaderwah district jail following formal detention orders from the District Magistrate, Jammu. The police described Raj as a hardcore criminal with multiple FIRs registered against him in different police stations across Jammu. An official said, "Multiple FIRs are already registered against the criminal in different police stations in Jammu." To prevent further criminal activities, a dossier under PSA was prepared and recommended to the District Magistrate. Accordingly, a PSA warrant was issued against Raj. The official added that locals have praised police efforts in curbing crime in the area. "Police is committed to ensure safety, security of people and all necessary measures are being taken to curb criminal activities including drug peddling and organised crime in the region," he said. The arrest aims to strengthen law and order and protect residents from ongoing criminal threats.
