New Hong Kong-China Rail Routes Nearly Sold Out Ahead of Lunar New Year
February 8, 2026
Tickets for most new high-speed rail routes from Hong Kong's West Kowloon Station to mainland China are nearly sold out for the weekend before Lunar New Year. The official 12306 train app shows that all ticket classes to 14 of the 16 new destinations are fully booked from Friday through Sunday. Among the top spots are Nanjing, Wuxi, and Hefei. The only train from Hong Kong to Nanjing South between Friday and Sunday has no seats left in any class. Prices for the seven-hour ride start at HK$1,028 for a second-class adult ticket and go up to HK$3,168 for business class. The same train also stops at Wuxi East about eight hours after leaving Hong Kong, with all seats sold out at fares from HK$1,132 to HK$3,529. All seats to Hefei South on that train are booked as well, with prices ranging from HK$953 to HK$2,944. The rush shows strong demand as travelers prepare for Lunar New Year starting February 17.
