Jeffrey Epstein acted as a confidante to OneWeb founder Greg Wyler when Wyler sought funding after starting the company in 2012. Emails reviewed by Bloomberg reveal Epstein discussed investing but no actual investments took place. Wyler told Bloomberg, "Epstein said he had professional relationships with and advised many in the tech industry" during that time. Wyler added, "He did discuss investing, but no investment ever occurred. More broadly, I never accepted any offer or request he made to invest in or support any company I was associated with." Wyler later secured funding from SoftBank Group and Qualcomm Inc. OneWeb, now owned by Eutelsat Communications, went bankrupt in 2020 when Wyler left. The company was rescued by the UK government and India's Bharti Enterprises, then merged with Eutelsat in 2023. The emails also mention visits to billionaire Richard Branson’s Necker Island, private jets, and discussions involving other billionaires like Elon Musk. Wyler appeared on Epstein's flight manifest and once requested Epstein's helicopter. Epstein sought Wyler's advice on broadband at his estate. These emails come from a recent trove that spotlights Epstein's ties to top investors, executives, and political figures.
