On Monday, eight Muslim countries including Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Indonesia, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar issued a joint statement. They warned against the "continued expansionist Israeli policies" in the occupied West Bank. The foreign ministers "condemned in the strongest terms" Israel’s illegal decisions to impose sovereignty and expand settlements. This follows Israel’s security cabinet approval of new steps making it easier for settlers to buy land and increasing Israeli enforcement powers over Palestinians. Israeli media quoted Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Defence Minister Israel Katz about scrapping old land rules. The statement affirmed that "Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory." The ministers warned these moves fuel violence and reject them as violations of international law. They said the actions undermine the two-state solution and the Palestinian right to an independent state. The ministers called the measures null and void, violating UN Security Council Resolution 2334 and referenced the 2024 International Court of Justice advisory opinion that declared Israel’s occupation illegal. They urged the international community to act and stop Israel’s escalation in the West Bank. The statement highlighted the need for a two-state solution based on international law and the Arab Peace Initiative for lasting peace. Earlier this year, the same eight countries condemned Israel’s violations of the Gaza ceasefire and worked with the US on a peace plan to end conflict in the region.
