Shivamogga Police Arrest Four for Supplying Banned Items to Central Prison

Shivamogga Police arrested four people for supplying banned items to the Shivamogga Central Prison in Sogane. The accused threw packets containing ganja, a mobile phone, cigarettes, and a lighter inside the prison. Shivamogga SP B. Nikhil told reporters that Tunga Nagar Police booked a case on February 1 after discovering a packet with banned items on prison grounds. The case falls under the NDPS Act and Karnataka Prisons Act, 2022. "Four people have been arrested in the case. Khalandar is the kingpin, and the three others are his associates. The police conducted the investigation based on CCTV footage," said the SP. He also warned that those who supply banned items to inmates will face imprisonment. "Tunga Nagara Police and the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force staff posted at the prison have done a commendable job in cracking the case," he added. Earlier, Shivamogga Police had arrested three people in a similar case.
