Islamabad Imambargah Suicide Attack Death Toll Rises to 38, Over 150 Injured

ISLAMABAD: The death toll from the suicide attack at an imambargah in Islamabad has reached 38, according to hospital data on Monday. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry initially said 33 people died and over 150 were injured.
On the day of the blast, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) received 28 dead bodies, while Polyclinic handled four, totaling 32 deaths. By the next day, one patient died at Pims, and three others died at the HBS Institute of Healthcare, raising the total to 36.
On Monday, two more injured patients died—one at Polyclinic and another at a private hospital—pushing the death toll to 38. Polyclinic records show five deaths linked to the blast so far, with seven patients still in critical condition and one on a ventilator.
Pims reported that 40 injured patients remain under treatment, with seven in the ICU and 29 deaths recorded at their facility. The attack on the Tarlai Imambargah was Islamabad's second major terrorist strike in under three months, despite increased security.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the arrest of four facilitators behind the attack, including the mastermind. These suspects were detained during raids in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The incident has shocked the capital, raising concerns about ongoing security threats amid efforts to maintain peace.
