Iran has arrested Javad Emam, a key reformist spokesperson, reported local media on Monday. This move comes amid a tough crackdown on dissent after widespread protests challenged the Islamic republic. Emam is at least the fourth Reformist Front member arrested recently. Other activists and filmmakers have also been detained after signing a statement critical of the government. Iran's leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, urged citizens to show "resolve" against foreign pressure. On a different front, Iran's atomic chief said Tehran might agree to dilute its highly enriched uranium stockpile if all financial sanctions are removed. This offer signals a possible breakthrough in talks with the US. The US demands Iran give up uranium enriched up to 60%, down from the nearly weapons-grade 90%. These talks come after positive discussions between Iranian and US officials in Oman, despite the harsh internal crackdown.
