Nearly 75% Pakistanis Back Gaza Peacekeepers Amid Rising Violence in West Bank and Gaza
February 10, 2026
A recent Gallup Pakistan poll reveals that nearly three-quarters of Pakistanis support sending troops to Gaza as part of an International Stabilization Force (ISF). This follows reports that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif may attend the US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace meeting on February 10. However, some, like Anam Nadeem from Sialkot, oppose this. She says, "The ISF’s role, leadership and objectives are vague, and it appears to be aligned with a US-led framework that lacks broad regional legitimacy." She also warned, "Joining such a force risks placing Pakistan in direct conflict with Palestinian factions, including Hamas, potentially against the will of the Palestinian people." Meanwhile, violence in the occupied West Bank continues: Israeli forces raided homes in Bethlehem, Sa’ir, and Dura, firing live bullets and tear gas, detaining and assaulting Palestinians, and vandalizing property. Settlers attacked homes and vehicles in Fasayil and near the Shilo settlement and sabotaged electricity lines affecting Palestinian communities. A young Palestinian was arrested near Jenin. In Gaza, the Palestinian Health Ministry reports that since October 2023, at least 72,032 people have died and 171,661 wounded in the Israeli conflict. Post-ceasefire attacks have added 581 deaths and 1,553 injuries. On February 10, at least four Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air attack on a Gaza City residential building, violating the October ceasefire. Demonstrations in Australia oppose Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s visit, who claimed there were no "innocent" victims in Gaza. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Israel’s increased control over the West Bank as "gravely concerning." Countries including Turkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE labeled Israel’s measures as aiming to impose "unlawful Israeli sovereignty." The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) appealed urgently for $1.26 billion to respond to the severe humanitarian crisis in Palestinian territories.
