Two Arrested in Hyderabad for Illegal Sale of Tiger Nails and Canine Teeth
February 10, 2026
Two individuals were caught in Hyderabad on February 9, 2026, for trying to sell tiger nails and canine teeth illegally. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Hyderabad Zonal Unit, acted on a tip-off about the illegal wildlife trade.
During questioning, one accused revealed a transparent pouch with seven tiger nails and three canine teeth in his backpack. These parts belong to the tiger, a protected species under Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. Possessing or trading tiger parts is a serious offense by law.
The DRI seized the wildlife items along with the packaging and the backpack used to hide them. The two accused, their mobile phones, and the seized items were handed over to the Telangana State Forest Department for further probe and legal action under the Wildlife Protection Act.
Investigation is ongoing.
