Supreme Court Adjourns ED’s CBI Probe Plea on Mamata Banerjee in Coal Scam
February 10, 2026
On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, the Supreme Court delayed the hearing of a petition by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The ED wants a CBI investigation into West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and others. The case involves alleged obstruction during ED’s search at I-PAC office and director Pratik Jain's premises. This is linked to a coal pilferage scam.
A Bench led by Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra postponed the case. Advocate Preetika Dwivedi said the lead West Bengal counsel, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, was unwell. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, speaking for the ED, agreed to the adjournment but suggested rescheduling on February 18, 2026. Senior advocate A.M. Singhvi was also present during the hearing.
The new hearing date is now fixed for February 18, 2026.
