February 10, 2026
RAWALPINDI: A huge fire broke out on Monday evening at a textile factory in Rawalpindi’s Rawat industrial estate. It took 16 hours to put out the blaze, said Rescue 1122 on Tuesday. Fortunately, no one lost their life in the fire. More than 80 firefighters and 21 emergency vehicles worked through the night to stop the fire. They used over 200,000 litres of water and foam to control the flames. Fire tenders and teams came from nearby districts to help. After the fire was out, firefighters continued cooling the site. The factory’s structure now has cracks and may collapse, the statement warned. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Fire investigators and rescuers are on site studying the damage. The day before, the fire was called a second-degree blaze and caused heavy damage. Around 45 firefighters and 13 emergency vehicles battled the flames. Fire services from Bahria Town, Islamabad, and the local water agency, Wasa Rawalpindi, also joined in. Thick black smoke rose high and was seen for miles around. Earlier this month, all tall buildings in Rawalpindi were ordered to improve fire safety within 30 days.
