Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is taking part in the World Defence Show 2026 (WDS-26) in Saudi Arabia to highlight its growing role in aerospace innovation and defence technology. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, “World Defence Show 2026 serves as a premier global platform for defence and security.” PAF is using this event to showcase its “rapidly advancing indigenous aerospace capabilities and proven operational excellence.” PAF will display the JF-17 Thunder Block-III multi-role fighter jet and the Super Mushshak basic trainer aircraft. The JF-17 Block-III is Pakistan’s top fighter jet, featuring the latest avionics, AESA radar, enhanced electronic warfare, and beyond-visual-range combat. ISPR called it a “formidable 4.5 generation fighter jet addressing the operational needs of modern air forces.” The Super Mushshak trainer is known for its reliability, cost-effectiveness, and easy maintenance. It is used in many friendly countries and is a benchmark in basic flying training worldwide. The ISPR added that PAF’s participation shows its leadership’s aim to boost defence cooperation, exports, and strategic partnerships with friendly nations. The event gives international defence leaders a chance to talk with PAF representatives about collaboration, training, and technology transfer. In January, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said several countries were actively discussing buying the JF-17 fighter. Indonesia, Bangladesh, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia have shown interest. Azerbaijan inducted the JF-17 into its air force in 2024, becoming the third country after Myanmar and Nigeria to acquire these jets.
