On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, police found the mutilated body of a woman near Periyasadayampalayam along the Erode Ring Road. A milk vendor spotted the body and alerted the Erode Taluk police. The woman's head was smashed with a stone. Her clothes were found nearby, including a red churidar. Police seized the stone for examination. The victim is estimated to be around 30 years old. Authorities are investigating possible sexual assault. Forensic signs suggest the murder occurred a day before discovery. Cigarette butts were also collected at the scene. Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha and Town Deputy Superintendent M. Muthukumaran inspected the site. A sniffer dog squad and forensic experts gathered evidence. The body was sent to the Government Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination. The Erode Taluk police registered a case. CCTV footage from nearby areas is under review. Police are also checking if any missing women complaints were filed in nearby stations. Meanwhile, five special teams have been formed to track down and arrest the suspects.
