Annamayya Police arrested two people carrying 179 kilos of ganja hidden in sacks of onions. The seized cannabis is worth ₹44.65 lakh. Police stopped an auto without a registration plate on Madanapalle-Tirupati road late Monday night. On checking, they found nine bags filled with ganja inside the onion sacks. The arrested are auto driver Avula Nagaraju and Avula Suguna, both from Chandra Colony, Madanapalle. Police also seized the vehicle. Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Kunubilli said four more suspects involved in the ganja trade are yet to be arrested. "We have kept a vigil on those who are peddling ganja and making youth addicted to ganja," he said. The SP warned strict action will be taken against anyone involved in selling or transporting ganja. He urged the public to report any ganja sale or use to help make the district ganja-free.
