Hubballi-Dharwad Mayor Promises Water Supply Every Three Days After Delays
February 10, 2026
Hubballi-Dharwad Mayor Jyoti Patil admitted the delay in continuous water supply caused by many problems, including the COVID-19 pandemic. She promised that steps will be taken soon to supply water once every three days. The announcement came during a special general body meeting on February 10.
The meeting followed concerns raised by councillors about delays and irregular water supply in many wards. Officials from Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) and L&T, the company handling the 24x7 water supply project, assured progress.
The meeting began with complaints about missing senior officials, but councillors agreed to continue. Former mayor Viranna Savadi called for teamwork to solve the issue.
Councillors from all parties voiced worries about water supply only coming once every 9 to 10 days, dirty water, late-night supply, pipe bursts, and water overflow. Many said their repeated requests for fixes went ignored.
Councillor Iqbal Navalur criticized L&T officials for supplying insect-contaminated water in Old Hubballi. He also expressed frustration over long delays in getting National Highways Authority of India approval for pipeline work.
Municipal Commissioner Rudresh Ghali answered councillors' questions and explained steps to fix problems and speed up the 24x7 water supply project.
Mayor Patil said work at multiple sites including Saundatti was near completion. She said 24 storage tanks have been built and will be tested soon. She promised officials will resolve all permission issues, including those with National Highways.
The mayor’s frank talk came after much pressure from councillors and residents for clean and reliable water in the twin cities.
