Ohio Man Found Dead in CVS Trash Compactor After Frantic Search
February 10, 2026
A frantic cellphone search ended in tragedy for Andrew Strand, 34, a father of two from Ohio. His wife, Jaymie, reported him missing after he did not return home from work. Tracking his phone, she found it at a CVS store on Chagrin Boulevard in Shaker Heights. Police arrived at about 10 pm and searched the area. They found Strand's body inside a trash compactor behind the store. "The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation," said Shaker Heights Police Commander John Cole. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. CVS said it is cooperating fully with the investigation. Strand, a mechanic who had recently started his own company, is remembered as a devoted husband and hands-on father. A GoFundMe page to support his family describes him as an active parent, coaching his son’s hockey and baseball teams and supporting his daughter in dance and gymnastics. "He was recently starting his own company, which he was absolutely loving," the fundraiser states. Friends called him dependable and kind. Nearly $20,000 has been raised to help his wife and children with funeral and other expenses. The investigation is ongoing.
