French Ex-Educator Charged with Rape of 89 Minors Over 50 Years
February 10, 2026
French prosecutors revealed that Jacques Leveugle, a 79-year-old former educator, is charged with aggravated rape and sexual assault involving 89 minors. The alleged crimes span over 55 years, from 1967 to 2022, in many countries including Germany, Switzerland, Morocco, Niger, Algeria, the Philippines, India, Colombia, and New Caledonia. Public prosecutor Etienne Manteaux spoke in Grenoble and named Leveugle publicly, urging victims and witnesses to come forward. Leveugle has been in custody since his 2024 indictment. He worked as a freelance teacher and speleology instructor. Investigators found detailed records of his crimes on a USB drive handed to police by his concerned nephew. These documents included 15 volumes describing "sexual relations" with minors aged 13 to 17. Shockingly, Leveugle also confessed to killing two family members decades ago. He admitted suffocating his terminally ill mother with a pillow in the 1970s and his 92-year-old aunt in the 1990s while she slept. "He had stated that he had 'killed two people'" in his personal writings called "memoirs," said Manteaux. The probe continues, and authorities call on anyone with information or who may have been victimized to contact the police immediately.
