Bengaluru Corporation Plans Heritage Building Makeover, Cracks Down on Illegal Hoardings
February 11, 2026
City Central Corporation Additional Commissioner Daljit Kumar has directed officials to prepare a detailed action plan for beautifying heritage buildings in Bengaluru Central City. He noticed a rise in unauthorized LED hoardings and banners and ordered inspections across all areas. Officials were told to remove illegal advertisements and cut their electricity supply when violations are found. Mr. Kumar ordered officials to list all heritage buildings, identify those needing beautification, and create a structured plan for improvements. He also called for beautification projects in spaces under flyovers. Officials must inspect sites, find suitable spots, and submit detailed reports. The corporation also shared updates on paying guest (PG) accommodations. Over 500 PGs were inspected so far within the Central City Corporation limits. They imposed fines totaling around ₹3 lakh on rule-breaking establishments. Eight PGs have been sealed. Health officials were directed to enforce all regulations strictly, the corporation said in a statement.
