Telangana Splits GHMC into Three Municipal Corporations

On February 11, 2026, Telangana government issued three orders to reorganize the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The region inside the Outer Ring Road is now divided into three municipal corporations. The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation covers Serilingampally, Kukatpally, and Qutbullapur zones. The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation includes Malkajgiri, Uppal, and L.B. Nagar zones. The new GHMC consists of Shamshabad, Rajendernagar, Charminar, Golconda, Khairatabad, and Secunderabad zones.
R.V. Karnan remains Commissioner of GHMC. G. Srijana, formerly Additional Commissioner of GHMC, is now Commissioner of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation. T. Vinay Krishna Reddy is appointed Commissioner of Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation. Each corporation will work independently with a common seal under the GHMC Act of 1955.
Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan signed the reorganization order, effective immediately. In addition, Mr. Ranjan was named Special Officer for all three corporations as per a government order by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao.
