Agape Garden, a Hong Kong social enterprise that works for underprivileged residents, has hit a roadblock. The Housing Authority cancelled its tender exercise for shop space because it gave wrong power supply details to bidders. This error forced the authority to call off the process even after collecting a HK$25,000 (US$3,200) deposit from tender applicants. The manager of Agape Garden, Mr. Lam, shared the impact. "We decided to start a retail business instead because we wanted to stay in the neighbourhood, to continue hiring and serving the underprivileged," he said. He added, "If we had secured the tender for that round, we could have opened the shop in January, but now our hopes have been dashed." Since the cancellation, the tender has not reopened, leaving Agape Garden unsure of its future location and operations.
