February 13, 2026
In Bannu district's Dogar Umarzai area, armed militants kidnapped a CPEC police constable named Qadeer and set his house on fire. Around 40 to 50 militants entered his home, abducted him, and then burned three rooms and household items. This attack caused fear among the family and local people. Authorities are investigating the case from several angles.
In another incident late Thursday night, unknown motorcyclists fired shots at the home of Ihsan Khattak, former president of the Bannu Press Club and ARY News reporter. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Khattak said suspicious motorcyclists had been seen near his house before, and he had filed a complaint with Saddar Police Station. He added, "I have no personal enmity or dispute with anyone."
The journalist also disclosed that he received threatening phone calls from Afghan numbers linked to his reporting work. Media circles condemned the attack and demanded a quick, transparent police investigation to catch the culprits and ensure journalist safety.
