UAE Schools Go Remote Every Friday During Ramadan for Family Time
February 13, 2026
As Ramadan nears, the UAE is changing the school week again. Public school students will learn from home every Friday during Ramadan. The Ministry of Education confirmed this on Thursday. This is the second year of the "Ramadan with Family" initiative. It lets students spend more time at home but keeps their studies on track.
The program matches weekly school schedules with Ramadan's social and spiritual flow. It also helps balance education with students' wellbeing and family life. Officials say this arrangement eases stress during fasting hours and reduces travel time for families.
Parents who want their children to attend school on Fridays can do so. But they must provide their own transport. Meanwhile, school staff will work as usual on these days.
To support this plan, the Ministry will provide a detailed guidance handbook. It includes lessons and activities from the curriculum. These focus on school progress, Ramadan values, family bonds, and community spirit.
By mixing flexible timing with strong curriculum content, the Ministry aims to keep education high-quality and help students connect more with their families during Ramadan.
