Seven people were killed in a pile-up near Sulibele in Hoskote, about 35 km from Bengaluru, early Friday. The accident happened around 4:40 a.m. near Satyavara village. The crash involved two cars, a canter, and a two-wheeler. A National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) patrol team alerted police after spotting the crash. Police said the XUV was moving towards Devanahalli when it hit the two-wheeler from behind and then crashed into the canter ahead. The two-wheeler rider was thrown off and hit the crash barrier, dying instantly. All six people inside the XUV also died on the spot. "The XUV appears to have been travelling at a high speed; therefore, all the occupants died on the spot. They appear to be aged between 20 and 25, but their identities are yet to be established," said a police officer. The collision was so strong that two rear wheels of the canter ripped off. Another car, an SUV, travelling behind the XUV, crashed into it but its two occupants were unhurt. Police identified the two-wheeler rider as Gagan, in his 20s, and one car occupant as Ashwin Nair, 17, from Kothanur. Other identities are still unknown. Early checks show Gagan left home around 3 a.m. after a call from friends.
