A recent survey in the Philippines reveals a surprising trend: almost half of Filipinos are willing to trust partners who cheat. The Social Weather Stations (SWS) conducted the national study, interviewing 1,200 adults face-to-face in November. The survey covered six cheating types: physical, emotional, cyber, object, financial infidelity, and micro-cheating. About 27% of respondents said they had personally seen or experienced some form of cheating. Physical and emotional cheating were the most common, with 11% each. Physical cheating means "engaging in sexual and intimate activities with someone else," while emotional cheating is defined as "talking with another person about a problem instead of one’s partner, or having romantic feelings without physical contact." Online cheating forms also appeared, with 6% mentioning cyber cheating (secret social media accounts or chats) and object cheating (giving too much attention to games, phones, or objects over the partner). When asked about trusting cheating partners again, 43% said they would, 36% said they could not, and 19% were undecided. The Inquirer newspaper reported these findings on the complex attitudes Filipinos hold toward infidelity.
