13 Dead, 9 Injured in Deadly Oil Tanker and Bus Crash on M9 Motorway Near Karachi
February 13, 2026
Thirteen people died and nine were hurt in a crash involving an oil tanker and a passenger bus on the M9 Motorway near Ansari Bridge, close to DHA City. The accident spread a lot of oil on the road. This made rescue work tough because workers avoided electrical tools to prevent fire. They had to cut the vehicles manually to save the injured. Malir Superintendent of Police Dr Abdul Khaliq Pirzada told Dawn that initial checks show the oil tanker was heading to Karachi, while the bus was going to Sanghar. The bus was traveling the wrong way, causing the crash. The tanker overturned and hit a van. Rescue 1122 spokesperson Hassaanul Haseeb Khan said four vehicles were involved: the oil tanker, a bus, a van, and a goods trailer. Motorway police said the crash happened because the tanker's tyre burst. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed regret and ordered an inquiry into the accident. He promised action against those responsible and called for stricter traffic law enforcement. Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar showed deep sorrow and directed quick and best medical help for the injured. President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed grief, prayed for the victims, and asked the Sindh government to provide prompt and proper care to those hurt.
