Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu announced on February 13, 2026, that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will soon release its preliminary report on the Learjet 45 crash. The plane belonged to VSR Ventures Pvt Ltd and crashed near Baramati airport on January 28, killing Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others. The victims included Pawar's personal security officer, his attendant, and the two cockpit crew members — pilot-in-command Sumit Kapur and first officer Shambhavi Pathak. The crash happened during the jet's second landing attempt. "Very soon we will have the preliminary report of the investigation," said Mr. Naidu. The investigation is moving swiftly, and the aircraft’s Black Box has already been recovered, according to the Civil Aviation Ministry's statement on January 30. On February 10, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, Ajit Pawar's nephew, raised suspicions of sabotage and demanded a full investigation by multiple expert agencies.
