Star Cruises Cancels Hong Kong Star Voyager Cruise, Leaves Passengers Frustrated
February 13, 2026
Star Cruises cancelled its Star Voyager two-night cruise departing from Hong Kong Ocean Terminal on February 13 due to an unforeseen technical problem. Passengers had waited several hours at the boarding area before the cancellation was announced around 9pm. Many complained about poor handling and feeling like “refugees.” A company spokesman said, “Star Cruises regrets to inform [passengers] that the Star Voyager sailing scheduled on February 13, for the ‘2 Night High Seas Cruise’ departing from Hong Kong Ocean Terminal, has been cancelled due to an unforeseen technical issue.” The firm did not share details on the technical problem or when it was found.
Social media posts showed hundreds of passengers queuing at Tsim Sha Tsui Ocean Terminal, with staff giving out water. One passenger said, “I was only given a bottle of water,” and complained of sore legs from waiting. Another said her 4pm boarding time was delayed multiple times before the cruise was cancelled. A woman who booked the Palace Suite said, “We were forced to squeeze together at the waiting area like refugees.” She added that Star Cruises only offered HK$200 dining vouchers very late.
Star Cruises apologised and offered passengers the choice to reschedule or get a full refund. Those who reschedule can transfer to any two- or three-night cruise on the same ship from Hong Kong until August 30. They will also receive HK$200 onboard credit per guest and HK$500 per cabin for transport costs. Refund customers get the same transport and dining vouchers plus a 50% discount on their next Star Voyager cruise departing from Hong Kong before August 30.
The company said, “Star Cruises remains fully committed to delivering a safe and enjoyable travel experience. We appreciate the understanding and patience of our guests and partners.”
