February 14, 2026
The Prison Department's stall at the 85th All India Industrial Exhibition, known as Numaish, in Nampally won the Best Stall Award in the State Government category. This is the fifth time the department has earned this honour. The award was given to Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Telangana, Soumya Mishra, by Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. Key exhibition officials present included vice president R. Sukesh Reddy, secretary B. N. Rajeshwar, and treasurer N. Sanjeev Kumar.
The stall was designed to look like a prison, making it stand out. It attracted many visitors with detailed Charminar models made by inmates. For the first time, natural honey harvested and packed by prisoners was displayed. Products made especially for women were popular, along with waste-to-wealth items that received praise.
Officials reported a total sale of ₹67,31,342 during the exhibition. This shows strong public support for products made by inmates through rehabilitation programs.
