AI Threatens 13 Million Jobs in Philippines’ $30B Outsourcing Industry
February 14, 2026
The Philippines’ $30 billion outsourcing sector is facing a big test from artificial intelligence. About 13 million jobs are at risk as companies adopt AI tools to evaluate staff. Many workers like Renso Bajala did not expect machines to decide whether they keep their jobs. The AI analyzes tone, word choice, and customer experience scores during calls. Bajala said, "I was a new hire, and nothing in our training curriculum said that AI would be used to measure our performances." He feels the AI scores are often unfair and miss the human context of difficult calls. "If it [the score] was low, you’d start overthinking what you did wrong, even if you felt you did your best," he said. The sector now pressures millions of workers to quickly upskill or risk being left behind.
