The Communist Party of India (CPI) has strongly criticized the 2026-27 Andhra Pradesh State Budget. CPI State secretary G. Eswaraiah called the budget a "self-congratulatory exercise" and said it does not balance welfare with development. He accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s coalition government of focusing on mutual praise instead of fulfilling election promises. Eswaraiah pointed out that despite several budgets, including an interim one, the government has not made progress on the promised unemployment allowance or the goal of creating four lakh jobs every year. "No job calendar has been issued so far," he added. The CPI also highlighted missing clear budget allocations for the promised ₹1,500 monthly aid to women. Government employees are unhappy over unclear plans for the 12th Pay Revision Commission and worries about scrapping the Contributory Pension Scheme. The CPI leader demanded more funds for major irrigation projects like the Veligonda project and called for transparency on rehabilitation efforts for the Polavaram project. Eswaraiah also raised concerns about the state’s rising debt. He mentioned pending fee reimbursement dues, cuts in welfare scheme funding, and a falling share of funds for education and power sectors. He warned that too much borrowing might threaten the long-term financial health of the state.
