Ernakulam Police Enhance Security and Traffic Controls for Aluva Sivaratri Festival

Ernakulam Rural police have increased security for the Sivaratri festival at Aluva Mahadeva Temple, set for Sunday, February 15, 2026. The event sees a heavy crowd, especially around the ‘Bali Tharpanam’ on the Periyar river ghat over three days. Police and Fire and Rescue Services will patrol intensely. A special squad will watch for repeat offenders. Police will control crowds at Aluva railway station. Drone surveillance is active over Manappuram and nearby areas. CCTV cameras are placed at major junctions and crowded spots. Watch towers will have police officials on duty. Ambulance services are ready for emergencies. Traffic rules will apply from 4 p.m. on February 15 to 2 p.m. on February 16 in Aluva town. Vehicles heading to the river ghat must divert via Seminarypady to GCDA Road by Ayurveda Hospital. Vehicles leaving the ghat must take Old Desom Road to Paravur Kavala Junction. Traffic from Thottakkattukara to Manappuram is banned. No vehicles can move between Bank Junction and Mahatma Gandhi Town Hall from 8 p.m. on Sunday to 2 p.m. Monday. Parking spaces are arranged for devotees, and people are urged to use them. The police warn of strict action against illegal parking.
