Israeli forces killed eight Palestinians in Gaza on Sunday in fresh attacks, breaking the US-brokered ceasefire from October, medical sources said. Four Palestinians died in southern Khan Younis and four others in northern al-Faluja. A source at Nasser Hospital reported the deaths in Khan Younis happened beyond the “Yellow Line” where Israeli troops are stationed in Gaza. Another source at al-Shifa Hospital confirmed the four deaths in a tent for displaced people in al-Faluja. Israel gave no immediate comment on the Gaza attacks. The Israeli military stated it struck a building in northern Gaza after armed fighters entered it, killing at least two. It also claimed to have killed a person who crossed the Yellow Line and posed an “immediate threat,” but offered no proof. Meanwhile, Israeli forces launched several attacks on southern Lebanon. They said they targeted warehouses used by Hezbollah for storing weapons and launchers. Hezbollah joined attacks on northern Israel in 2023 in support of Palestinians in Gaza. Israel and Hezbollah agreed on a “ceasefire” in November 2024, but attacks have continued. Gaza and Lebanon authorities say Israel continues near-daily attacks despite the ceasefire. Since October 10, Israel has breached the ceasefire over 1,500 times. At least 591 people have died and 1,590 were injured in Gaza during this period. Israel also strictly limits essential supplies like food, medicine, and shelter materials entering Gaza, where around 2 million Palestinians live in dire conditions. The war launched by Israel on Gaza on October 8, 2023, has killed 72,032 people, wounded 171,661, and destroyed 90 percent of Gaza’s infrastructure, says the United Nations. Rebuilding Gaza could cost more than $70 billion. In Lebanon, the Israeli military has conducted more than 10,000 air and ground attacks since agreeing to halt hostilities. UN rights officials confirmed at least 108 civilian casualties from these attacks, including 21 women and 16 children. They also reported 11 Lebanese civilians abducted by Israeli forces since the ceasefire.
