The Rathotsavam car festival lit up the penultimate day of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam at Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirupati on Sunday, February 15, 2026. The Lord and His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi were placed atop the grand chariot during the auspicious hours. Devotees joyfully pulled the huge rope tied to the chariot’s front, as traditional ‘Mangala Vayidyam’ music played and chants of ‘Govinda Govinda’ echoed around. Ahead of the chariot, cultural groups and Bhajan troupes performed energetic ‘Kolatam’ and ‘Chekka Bhajan’ dances, adding to the festive spirit. Important officials, including Superintending Engineer Manoharam, Temple Special Officer and Chief Public Relations Officer T. Ravi, Special Grade Deputy Executive Officer V. Varalakshmi, Vigilance Guard Officer T. Surendra, and the officiating priest ‘Kankana Bhattar’ Balaji Rangacharyulu joined the procession, showing the event’s significance. In the evening, the deity was dressed as a fearless warrior and placed on the celestial horse carrier ‘Aswa Vahanam’. The impressive horse-shaped vahanam paraded through the temple streets, mesmerizing all present and marking a glorious end to the day’s celebrations.
