Qatar’s Crescent Sighting Committee has asked the public to look for the crescent moon on the evening of February 17. This will determine the start of the holy month of Ramadan, which begins on the 29th of Sha'ban 1447 AH. The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs asked all Muslims in Qatar to observe the sky on Tuesday evening and report any sighting of the crescent moon. They are requested to go in person to the ministry's headquarters at Dafna Tower and submit their testimony immediately. The committee will meet right after the Maghreb prayer on the same night to review all reports and declare the official start of Ramadan.
