A 49-year-old cyclist died on Sunday morning after crashing into a kerb on the dangerous Bride’s Pool Road in Hong Kong's Tai Po district. The crash happened near Wang Chung Stream around 10.30am. Police said the rider sustained a head injury and lost consciousness. He was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital but was declared dead at 11.36am. The rider had started from Yuen Long at 7.30am with five fellow cyclists. They stopped for food at Bride’s Pool before heading back towards Tai Mei Tuk. His group did not see the crash. Police have taken the bicycle for inspection. The New Territories North traffic unit is investigating and has asked witnesses to call 3661 3800. Bride’s Pool Road is a scenic but winding route known as a black spot for accidents in Hong Kong.
