On February 15, 2026, leaders of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) or LJP(RV) protested against an RJD MLA's comment during the Bihar Legislative Assembly Budget session. Kumar Sarvjeet, RJD MLA from Bodh Gaya, had called late Ram Vilas Paswan "bechara" (pitiable) on February 11. Paswan was the founder of LJP and a former Union Minister. The LJP(RV) called this remark anti-Dalit and burnt the effigy of RJD's national working president, Tejashwi Yadav. LJP(RV) State president Raju Tiwari said, "The use of such a word for our party founder in the Assembly demonstrates that Mr. Tejashwi Yadav's thinking is anti-Dalit and anti-social." He added the party will protest inside the Assembly on February 16. Sanjay Kumar Paswan, LJP(RV) minister, demanded strict action against Kumar Sarvjeet. He said, "Because of such behaviour, they (RJD) have been reduced to a mere 25 seats in the Assembly, and in the coming days, they will become zero." He insisted that the RJD MLA apologise in the Assembly. Without an apology, LJP(RV) legislators plan to protest during the session. Ram Vilas Paswan was an influential Dalit leader who served as Union Minister under six Prime Ministers over five decades. The LJP split in 2021 into two factions: LJP(RV) led by Paswan's son Chirag Paswan and Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party led by Paswan's brother Pashupati Kumar Paras.
