February 15, 2026
On Sunday, Sujaya Jagadish from north Bengaluru adopted 20 stray dogs. The Bengaluru North City Corporation helped the adoption as part of its efforts to manage street dogs humanely. Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar said the initiative promotes adoption and animal welfare.
The corporation followed strict guidelines from the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and the Animal Birth Control Rules (ABC), 2023 during the adoption. Each dog was vaccinated against rabies and other diseases. They were sterilised under the ABC programme, received health checks, and were tagged by the authorities.
Ms. Jagadish promised to care for the dogs with good food, shelter, and medical treatment. The corporation asked others interested in adopting stray dogs to contact the Animal Husbandry Department.
