Hong Kong is gearing up for its warmest Lunar New Year’s Eve ever. Temperatures are expected to reach 28 degrees Celsius (82.4°F) on Monday, according to the Hong Kong Observatory. This surpasses the previous record of 27.8 degrees set back in 1953. The Observatory has been recording climate data since 1884. On Monday morning at 8:30 am, the temperature was already 22 degrees, the highest minimum temperature ever recorded on Lunar New Year’s Eve. The weather forecast says, "It will be hot during the day, with a maximum temperature of around 28 degrees in urban areas and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories." Light rain patches are expected tonight. Overall, it looks like a warm and humid Lunar New Year’s Eve for Hong Kong residents and visitors.
