At least two people, including a child, were killed and 14 others injured in an explosion near Miryan police station in Bannu district of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday. Police said the blast happened near shops in front of the station when a time bomb fixed to a motorcycle exploded. Civilians were affected but police personnel were unharmed. Rescue teams took the injured and bodies to hospitals. Several injured are in critical condition. Bannu deputy inspector general Sajjad Khan said the area was sealed off and a search operation began. Police, bomb disposal squad, quick response force, and armoured vehicles were deployed. Evidence is being collected and investigations continue. The police said the bomb disposal squad is clearing the site to prevent any further threats. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned the blast and called terrorists enemies of humanity and peace. Opposition leader Ibadullah Khan also condemned the attack and urged the nation to unite against those hostile to peace. Such attacks have occurred frequently in the region.
