February 16, 2026
Mahasivaratri celebrations across Sri Sathya Sai, Annamayya, and Chittoor districts concluded peacefully by early Monday. Police, along with district officials, made strong security plans to manage the events smoothly. In Sri Sathya Sai district, the annual Brahmotsavams at the Kati Koteswara Swamy temple in Tadimarri mandal ended without issues. Thousands of devotees gathered at famous temples including Veerabadra Swamy in Lepakshi, Hemavathi, and Timmamma Marrimanu.
Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar supervised preparations. He inspected temples two days before the festival and held meetings with police, revenue, and endowment officials. He said, “Anticipating heavy pilgrim turnout, we deployed large contingents, conducted route marches with Vajra vehicles, and strengthened surveillance around the temple and surrounding villages. Crowd regulation, traffic diversions, and basic amenities for devotees were ensured through inter-departmental coordination.”
In Annamayya district, SP Dheeraj Kunubilli confirmed detailed security measures at major Shiva temples. Police managed queues, vehicle movement, and parking to keep things orderly. Major temples in Rayachoti, Tamballapalle, and Madanapalle reported peaceful celebrations.
Chittoor district police secured the Moghileswara Swamy temple near Bangarupalem and Kaigal waterfalls near V. Kota during the festival. Overall, the coordinated efforts led to calm and safe Mahasivaratri festivities in all three districts.
