Mysuru police have taken strong action against criminals. Ganesh alias Ganapa, 25, from Janata Layout, was detained under the Goonda Act. He is a habitual offender linked to serious crimes like assault and attempted murder. Six criminal cases are against him from different police stations in Mysuru. The police said, “His continued involvement in criminal and rowdy activities has created fear in society and disturbed public peace.” The Commissioner ordered his detention on February 14. Ganesh was arrested on February 15 and sent to Shivamogga Central Prison. In another case, Manjunath alias Aslam, 51, from Kyathmaranhalli lake hutments, Udayagiri, was arrested for illegal ganja trade. Three NDPS cases are registered against him for selling and transporting ganja in Mysuru and Bhadravathi areas. He also has a history of house-breaking and theft from 2004-2005. To prevent further crimes, the City Police Commissioner externed Manjunath for six months to Sagar Town police jurisdiction, based on a Karnataka Police Act order. He was arrested and sent to Sagar on February 15. The City police stated, “Through these actions, strict measures have been implemented against rowdy and illegal activities within Mysuru City limits, and a clear warning has been issued to habitual offenders and those involved in illegal ganja trade and transportation.”
