Two Held With 350 Quintals of Illegal PDS Rice Worth ₹14.70 Lakh Near Nellore

Officials detained two persons and seized 350 quintals of PDS rice packed in 700 bags near Kagithalapuram Bypass, Manubolu mandal, SPSR Nellore district on Sunday. A joint team from Civil Supplies, Revenue, and Police inspected vehicles near IOCL Shakti Filling Station after receiving credible information. They found a truck (AP 26 TL 6359) illegally loaded with the rice. The rice consignment was valued at ₹14.70 lakh, and the truck worth ₹8 lakh was also seized. A case was registered under Section 318 (4) of IPC and Section 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, at Manubolu police station. The accused were identified as Ogireddy Sudhakar Reddy, a PDS rice mediator from Nimmareddypalem village, and Ambati Suresh, the truck's owner-cum-driver. ASO C. Lakshminarayana Reddy, Manubolu Inspector M.S. Rakesh Yadav, and other officials took part in the inspection. Joint Collector Mogli Venkateswarlu warned, "Strict action will be taken against those illegally transporting PDS goods meant for the poor," and added, "Those involved in such irregularities will not be ignored under any circumstances."
