Over 130 delegates from across India joined a three-day national conference on 'Emerging Trends, Technologies, and Artificial Intelligence in Veterinary Medicine: Challenges and Opportunities' starting Monday in the city. The event was organized by the Indian Society for Veterinary Medicine (ISVM) and the Department of Veterinary Medicine at Madras Veterinary College. During his opening speech, Major General S.S. Balaje, Director General of Remount Veterinary Services, stressed the importance of artificial intelligence in precision veterinary diagnosis. He urged young veterinarians to focus on latest advances in imaging and machine learning integration. Narendra Babu, Vice-Chancellor-in-charge and Registrar of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), said the university is collaborating with the National Agricultural Science Fund of the Indian Council for Agricultural Research. Their work includes developing AI and IoT-based systems for animal health, patient care, and precision farming. Other key attendees were R. Ramprabhu, President of ISVM; Rajiv Gaikwad, ISVM General Secretary; P. Devendran, Dean of Madras Veterinary College; and S. Satheshkumar, Dean of Faculty of Basic Sciences, TANUVAS. The conference highlights the growing role of technology in improving animal care and veterinary services across India.
