Curry Fishball Toys Soar at Hong Kong Lunar New Year Fair, Vendors Earn HK$100,000 Daily
February 17, 2026
Curry fishball plush toys and other Hong Kong-themed products have become big sellers at the city's largest Lunar New Year Fair in Victoria Park. One vendor said daily sales rose above HK$100,000 (about US$12,790). The fair, held amid a crowd of tens of thousands, saw vendors selling locally designed souvenirs and gifts. Among the busiest was Lo Hey, known online for plush toys shaped like popular Hong Kong street foods, especially curry fishballs. The stall owner, a 45-year-old Hongkonger named Choi, once ran a hotpot restaurant by the same name. Staff at the stall entertained customers by pretending to season and sauce the plush toys on a grill, simulating a real street food experience. They even packed toys in paper bags like food stalls do for takeaway. Emily Tse, a 21-year-old Polytechnic University student working at Lo Hey, said, "Business remained strong compared with earlier days of the fair," adding that daily sales were about HK$100,000. This nostalgic merchandise is clearly stirring excitement and drawing visitors eager to celebrate Hong Kong culture at the festival.
