Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of North India's first semiconductor manufacturing unit in Gautam Buddh Nagar on February 21. This marks a key step to make Uttar Pradesh a hub for high-tech manufacturing. The next day, February 22, PM Modi will inaugurate the 82-kilometer Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat rapid rail corridor. This corridor connects Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut and covers important stations like Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, and Meerut South. On the same day, the 23-km Meerut Metro with 13 stations will also be launched. Yogi Adityanath highlighted the state’s improved connectivity, saying the Delhi-Meerut travel time dropped from about 3 hours before 2017 to 45 minutes today. The rapid rail will make travel even faster. He stressed that Uttar Pradesh holds 55% of India’s expressway network with 22 expressways, 7 operational, 5 under construction, and 10 more being planned. Metro trains currently run on six corridors, including the upcoming Meerut line. The state has also developed inland waterways like the Varanasi-Haldia route with upgraded terminals, and expanded from 2 fully operational airports in 2017 to 16 today, including 4 international airports. The fifth international airport at Jewar is nearly ready. A Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hub is also under setup at Jewar, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s role as a major logistics and connectivity hub. These moves signal Uttar Pradesh’s fast rising profile in technology and transport under the current government.
